I haven’t had a sip of alcohol since December 31, 2017. My hubby and I went out to a New Year’s Eve gala in Washington, DC and thereafter tried to get pregnant (and we did!). So its been awhile.
I have also intentionally changed my lifestyle alot since 2017. Each and every day I am looking for healthier options for my family and I. And wine + alcohol is no different.
If you haven’t read about the Monsanto lawsuit, you can catch up via Food Babe here. Monsanto is the maker of a herbicide known as RoundUp. “Roundup is the most widely used weed killer in the world. In 2015, the World Health Organization’s cancer arm declared glyphosate a probable human carcinogen. Last year Monsanto lost a HUGE lawsuit filed by a California man with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma – the jury decided that Roundup caused his cancer and awarded him millions. This was the first of thousands of lawsuits filed. ” via Food Babe
For a complete list of products with glyphosate’s in them, click here. You will be shocked and appalled to see the list of kids cereals, oat meals, etc which this toxic. And guess what….Food Babe came out with a report this week that indicates glyphosate’s are even found in WINE + BEER. Find her report here.
WELP. That sucks.
Insert: Scout and Cellar.
Scout and Cellar is committed to clean crafted wine. According to their website, “Wine is a tricky business, because when it comes to their growth cycle, grapes tend to march to the beat of their own drum. Their natural flavor, color and growing cycle is driven by nature. To capture sameness and establish predictability, producers rely on synthetic pesticides, chemical additives and sugar, which yield a product that tastes the same, bottle after bottle, year after year.
Chemical pesticides and additives also make it possible to maximize yields and hide flaws, like bacteria and other unpleasant elements. Unfortunately, this processed wine is chemically-altered and completely unnatural, and you can taste it. We’re here to offer a chemical, additive-free wine, which provides more natural, altogether better-tasting wine experience to everyone. We’re here to offer CLEAN-CRAFTED™ wine.”
Scout and Cellar independently lab test the wines to confirm that there are no synthetic pesticides present in addition to any other necessary analyses if not previously confirmed or provided.
Are you sold? I am! My friend Laury over at @Lauryannraik sells Scout and Cellar so I am hosting a party in collaboration with her. If you want to do some shopping, head here. I’ll be purchasing a few myself, perhaps we should do an instagram tasting party, no?
