Did you know that conventional candles are made from paraffin wax, a by-product of petroleum refining -YIKES. Intuitively, you can imagine how that may create air pollution in your home. It actually poisons the air you breath.
Per Empowered Sustenance, “Paraffin wax starts as the sludge at the bottom of the barrel of crude oil. Even asphalt is extracted before paraffin in the refining process! The black sludge, already filled with numerous toxins, undergoes bleaching and treatment by carcinogens benzene and/or toulene.
The chemicals don’t stop there. Chemists mix in toxic concoctions of colors and fragrances to make this waste product marketable and appealing. The final result is a innocent looking candle which releases seven documented toxins –two of which are carcinogenic–when it burns.”

What’s the solution to those Bath and Body works candles that everyone adores (and everyone gifts during the holiday season – sigh!)?????
Enter THE SOAP MARKET: My favorite candle brand that uses a non- toxic coconut and apricot wax blend that burns really clean. Their fragrances are also free of phthalates and other toxic chemicals. The fragrance they use is up to the European standard (which is way stricter than the US safety standards). Sustainability is also important to them. Their wicks are also ethically sourced and only come from U.S. Forest Stewardship Certified Mills.
The family run business company dates back to 2012 and is SO successful that when they were on SHOP HQ they sold out of EVERY PRODUCT ON AIR! Currently their most popular scents are Cranberry + Clove + Orange, Vanilla + Cream, and Patchouli + Vetiver.
They are launching a new scent of the month starting this month. February’s scent is Strawberry + Vanilla Whip (does that not sound DEVINE?!). It will be available in limited quantities so they will have it until they run out or until the end of the month.
They also sell coconut milk soaps and body treatment oils as of right now. Check out The Soap Market on instagram or Etsy. Enter The Soap Market giveaway on my instagram here.
