It seems like just yesterday I was basking in the Greecian sun with just a light sunscreen on my face. Fast forward three weeks later AND my skin is starting to become dryer more quickly than normal. Typically, I hydrate before bed with some Vitamin C or Aragon oil. And in the morning I like to use Hyaluronic Acid (more on that later!). And for the most part, my skin is in pretty good shape. However, this winter I decided I am going to start incorporating more beauty masks into my routine.
WHY? Well, in the winter, most people don’t wear sunscreen so your skin is taking in harsh UV rays. Then throw in the drying effect of wind, colder temperatures and lack of himidity which can leave your skin irritated and dry. Facial oils are magical. But incorporating masks give your skin the extra OOMPH it needs to get that dewy, youthful appearance.
I chose two masks made by Beauty Counter. Why Beauty Counter? Well, simply because they are a nontoxic beauty company and ensure that their products are safer and cleaner than the other products on the market. They have a rigorous selection process and prohibit the use of over 1,500 harmful/questionable ingredients. And as a disclaimer, I am not getting paid for this post, but you will be linked to Beauty Counter guru Anneliese Well’s beauty counter page because she is a total boss babe! Brightening Facial Mask
The first mask on my list is the brightening facial mask. I LOVE this mask because it has all my favorite ingredients including kaolin clay and vitamin c. They ingredients are POWERFUL. This mask gives the skin a brighter look and even-toned complexion. In general, kaolin clay is a deep cleanser and leaves the skin looking renewed. Couple it with vitamin c which hydrates the skin and reduces the appearance of dark spots. Powerful combo. I’m even ordering the kit for my sister as we speak! (Hopefully she’s not reading this!). You can either buy the mask on its own or in the collection.
Plumping Facial Mask
The second mask on my list is the plumping facial mask. It is made with cleansing kaolin clay, peony root and konjac root. The kaolin clay is nutrient-dense and gives the skin a firm, toned look. And DUH a dewy, youthful appearance after deeply cleaning the skin. The peony root restore’s the skin’s elasticity and konjac root smooths the appearance of fine lines. You can buy the mask on its own or there is a kit that includes the plumping mask, mist, and oil.
Personally, I LOVE this set of three masks. It includes the Charcoal mask which is ideal in the summer. It’s perfect for a holiday gift (which I may or may not have gotten for my sister this year!).
