Tell us about yourself Chantelly. (which btw way I LOVE YOUR NAME!)
Chantelly: I’m Chantelly but most everyone calls me Chantel. I’m from Orange County, California and live for beach days with the hubby, guacamole and my mom’s margaritas. My parents raised us to be active and healthy but to also enjoy ourselves so I am all about balance and moderation. I danced, played soccer, swam competitively and played water polo growing up. After high school, I was pretty burnt out and took to our local gym where I got addicted to HIIT workouts and spin class. About 5 years ago, I got really into nutrition and can be a total geek when it comes to learning about it. I’ve been able to figure out what works best for my body and gain self confidence and lots of happiness along the way. Last year I decided that I want to help others do the same so I signed up for a health coaching program and here I am!
Everyone is so FIXATED on “NEW YEAR NEW ME” mentality in January, what kind of advice do you have for them?
Chantelly: It’s always nice to use the new year to reflect on the past and what you’ve accomplished. It’s a great way to build yourself up and realize just how far you’ve come. It’s also a great time to look ahead at all that you want to successfully complete in the coming year. Make a list of everything you would love to carry out. Get it all out on paper and into the universe. And then, separate them into monthly or weekly goals. Be realistic when it comes to what you have time for and what you think you can attain. Breaking these goals down will create more peaceful living. You’ll be much happier. I find that I have a much easier time reaching my goals when I am happy and at peace with myself and my life.
But also, don’t wait until the new year to do this. Make it a monthly practice to reevaluate your goals and accomplishments.Or, start as soon as the thought pops into your head. If you think you’re not ready to start now, you’re right. We’re never truly ready for change so that’s why it’s important not to put it off and just do it. The sooner you start, the sooner you see the results you’re looking for.
I LOVE the idea of separating it into weekly and monthly goals. Adding it to today’s to do list! Let’s switch over to your expertise…. YOU ARE THE MASTER OF HABIT CHANGE! What does this mean?
Chantelly: It’s a little title I gave myself and simply means mastering habit change. It’s all about figuring out the small steps to adopt and put into action to achieve your WHY. These steps can be so simple and unnoticeable until one day, you’ve woken up and magically accomplished your BIG goal. We tend to put so much pressure on losing weight and eating healthy and this added stress gets in the way. I really love that I’ve been taught this process and can show people how easy it really can be to achieve your goals.
So how does it work?
It all depends on the person and what their WHY is. This can be anything from wanting to be happier, to eating better, to wanting to look good naked. We look at their goals along with what is holding them back in order to decide what steps to take. We use a variety of resources and practices to help get them to their WHY without causing stress.
Can we get a sneak peak of what this entails?
My Nourished Soul transformation program is a 90 day journey. I start every client with a discovery session to learn a little more about them and make sure that we are a good fit as coach and client. Once we’ve committed to each other, we set up a weekly appointment and the transformation begins! While we only meet for one hour a week (online or in person), I am always there for them to ask any questions, cheer them on and help keep them accountable.
SO AWESOME! How do you become the master of habit changing?
It takes a little bit of practice and self discovery! I’ve been doing tons of research over the last few years and experimenting with my own healthy lifestyle. I wanted to learn what works for me so little by little, I made those changes. I also learned a lot of great methods in my health coaching program where we were able to partner up every week with others in the class and practice. I was able to become more aware of what was going on with the people in my circle and how to help them in a better way. But the biggest part of this was learning more about myself and coaching myself through the process. It’s so much more than just eat this and don’t eat that or work out every day. You really have to learn to be happy, love yourself and get your stress and mental health under control.
Can you share with us an example of a client being transformed?
One of my client’s goals was to find a way to actually enjoy working out. She knew what she had to do, she just had trouble doing it. We took some of her interests and turned them into ways to move. You don’t have to work your tail off at spin class or run 5 miles a day. Just get out and move! Once she began having more fun with simply moving (i.e. dog walks/runs, trampoline parks with friends, evening stretching, ocean swims, rollerblading, etc.), she wanted to try more intense workout classes and strength training. Along the way, we got her to stop stressing so much about how much weight she wanted to lose and more about staying motivated and having fun. We were also able to tweak some eating habits to find what works better for her body and keeps her energized and happy!
I hope y’all learned so much about the Master of Habit Change, Chantelly Liebling! Let me know what you think in the comments below!
