Summer is here and so is the season for iced coffees and iced lattes! Recently, I have been adding iced matcha lattes to my morning grind.
WHY MATCHA?
Well, for starters, matcha is known to be a cancer fighter and fat burner. That’s enough of a reason to try it out right there.
However, it also contains 137 times more antioxidants than regular green tea. It naturally detoxifies your body, lowers cholesterol and sugar, and gives you the boost of energy you need to get through the work day. I skip coffee on mornings that I drink matcha and I get the same results.
You can find it on amazon, thrive market, or any health food store. I don’t have a favorite brand of matcha right now. But I do have some guidelines for you when you are selecting your matcha.
Matcha Guidelines
Matcha should be vibrant green, as opposed to a dull green.
Matcha should NOT taste bitter. I don’t find it to be particularly sweet but it has a rather green/bland flavor in my opinion.
Matcha should originate from Japan.
Beware, Matcha is a little pricey so if you come across matcha at a cheap price, check the source of the matcha. The price might correlate to its quality.
WHIP IT UP!
Putting together your matcha latte is super easy. First, I follow my recipe for making homemade almond milk. I also switch it up with coconut milk – this gives the latte a little bit of a sweeter taste.
I take 2 cups almond milk, 1 tablespoon matcha, and of course I always add some collagen to the mix. Mix it up in the blender, pour it over ice (or not, your preference) throw in a straw to slurp it up and enjoy!
Sometimes I enjoy making a hot matcha on the stove on rainy days. In that case, I heat up my milk of choice and whisk in the matcha.
Be sure to tag me in your matcha latte creations! Till next time, BOOCH on. xx Erica
