I recently posted about 5G towers, the harms and some research on the matter (you can find that blog post here). I also chatted a little bit about the brand Aires Tech that creates microprocessors that reduce the harmful effects of electromagnetic radiation emitted by electronic devices (learn more about them here). But after my last blog post, I received a few questions from y’all about what exactly EMF is and specifically is laptops gave off EMR.
Let’s do a quick tutorial 101 on the matter.
Per to the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, an EMF is defined as such:
“Electric and magnetic fields (EMFs) are invisible areas of energy, often referred to as radiation, that are associated with the use of electrical power and various forms of natural and man-made lighting.” (Find more information here).
EMF is then broken down into two categories: Ionizing and Non-ionizing.
Non-ionizing considered the low-level radiation which is generally perceived as harmless to humans. An example of this would be a microwave. (Fun fact: We do not have a microwave because I hate the concept of constant radiation in our home).
Ionizing, as you may be able to guess now, are mid to high-frequency radiation which can lead to cellular and or DNA damage with prolonged exposure. An example of this would be an x-ray machine.
Laptops do emit radiation. A study published in pub med (find it here), studied five different laptop brands found
- When close to the body, the laptop induces currents that are within 34.2% to 49.8% ICNIRP recommendations….to the adult’s body and to the fetus (in pregnant women). (Link)
- And also, the power supply induces strong intracorporal electric current densities in the fetus and in the adult subject, which are respectively 182-263% and 71-483% higher than ICNIRP 98 basic restriction recommended to prevent adverse health effects. (Link)
The National Cancer institute also correlates the use of laptops with EMF Radiation and Cancer. Find that information here.
After doing a little bit of this reading and research, I decided to grab another Aires Tech shield for my laptop (we all have on on our phones and I have a shield near Brynns bassinet because of the baby monitor.)
If you want to grab one, use my affiliate link here and the code BYOK35 for a discount.
The Aires Tech Guardian has three next generation silicon based microprocessors that aim to reduce the harmful effects of electromagnetic radiation emitted by electronic devices commonly found at home or in the office. According to Airest Tech, the Guardian can be used to protect frequently used areas against the harmful effects of EMR pollution. So much so that it covers a 500 sq. ft. area.
And of course, let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
