I love a good iced coffee, especially on the go, but my coffee tab has been exceptionally high this summer so I have been making my own cold brew at home and it has been surprisingly SO GOOD.
First, I order a 5lbs bag of Purity Coffee (promo code BYOK20 will score you 20% off). Purity Coffee is my favorite brand of coffee because they super high standards from start to finish including how their coffee is grown, harvested, processed, stored, tested, and shipped. Their coffees are organically grown to eliminate any chance that toxic pesticides have permeated the coffee cherries. They ensure our coffees are officially certified organic and most have achieved the Smithsonian Bird Friendly Certification, the highest standard of certified organic coffee.
Next, I purchased a cold brew kit from amazon for $30. But if you don’t wish to purchase that you can go ahead and use a mason jar and strainer that you have at home.
Okay- here we go!
Ingredients
1 cup whole coffee beans
4 cups water
Directions:
1- Coarsely grind the coffee beans, keep them thick and course, if they are too fine then they will fall through the strainer.
2- Combine the coffee and the water in the cold brew system or mason jar.
3- Let it steep overnight for 12-36 hours. Personally I enjoy it steeped at 24 hours but I have friends who do the 36 hours mark.
4- Strain the coffee & Enjoy!
