DEODORANT
TOP PICK: This one is an EASY swap. RUN don’t walk over to Primally Pure, grab their charcoal deodorant (I HIGHLY recommend this one if you are switching from a conventional brand because the charcoal simultaneously detoxes your pits). Primally Pure deodorants are free from aluminum (which controversially I believe is harmful), contains a small amount of baking soda to combat odor and is fortified with kaolin clay (powerful detoxifier) and non-nano zinc oxide (soothes irritation). Use code KOMBUCHA and my link to snag a discount here.
OTHER OPTIONS: Holly’s Keeping it Real deodorant
SPF
Are you using sunscreen EVERY SINGLE DAY? If you aren’t, you should be. Have you ever seen that picture of the truck driver whose face had aged on the left side and he looked more youthful on the right? Showing that spending time in the sun does age you! And of course I don’t advise just using any sunscreen- it is important to use sunscreens that are mineral based (read more here).
TOP PICK: I use Beautycounter dew skin which contains SPF in it. But for those who just want a daily sunscreen, we have a facial sunscreen as well. And of course there is regular sunscreen options such a spray or a stick (which is awesome for kids btw!). Protect yourself (and use my the code CLEANFORALL20 and my link to score a discount) and your fam, grab some SPF for 2022. Click here to shop.
OTHER OPTIONS: Laguna Herbals
Lipsticks, Lipstains & Chapsticks
Lead, amongst other heavy metals, is prominent in lipsticks and is linked to serious health risks in adults such as neurological effects, reproductive toxicity and thyroid distinction. EEK! But there are safer options out there, Beautycounter screens all of our color cosmetics for heavy metal limits and keeps them within our health protective company standards!
TOP PICK: You can find some options on Beautycounter here.
OTHER OPTIONS: Primally Pure tinted lip balm. Find them here.
FACE MASKS
I love a good face mask – MINUS THE CHEMICALS! Have you ever heard of the saying, don’t put on your skin what you wouldn’t eat? It’s true! Your skin is the largest organ on your body and absorbs everything you put on it faster than you think. So it is important to be SUPER MINDFUL of what you are putting on your face. And while those target $1 sheet masks look cute (CRINGE!), the ingredients do not.
TOP PICK: Instead invest in one of Primally Pure’s super safe and super effective masks. Pictured here, I am wearing the plumping mask and my sister is wearing their soothing spirulina face mask (so good for inflamed skin!).
OTHER OPTIONS: Another great option is by Cocokind chlorophyll mask which gets rid of dull skin and is personally my favorite. Point being: There are SO MANY BETTER OPTIONS than the chemical filled sheet masks.
Blemish Control
Need some spot treat for those pimples? This charcoal mask can be used as spot treatment for oily and congested areas of your skin. It absorbs the oils, visibly minimizes pores and detoxifies the skin – WITHOUT ALL THE NASTY CHEMICALS. In fact, Beautycounter follows the Europeans in banning over 1,800 commonly used chemical in their products. You know how many chemicals the US bans? 11 cosmetic chemicals. YEP! Time to switch and toss out those conventional brands asap.
TOP PICK: Beautycounter charcoal mask
Body Lotions / Oil
When it comes to body lotions/oils this is probably your EASIEST swap. Head to your local farmers market or browse Etsy, check the ingredients and buy SMALL. There are so many great small shops out there with body lotions and oils.
TOP PICK: Body glow by Charlie’s Organics is a great one.
OTHER OPTIONS:I also like the Primally Pure body oil collection, their body butter and their balm for babies. The baby balm is made with cow tallow which is great for inflammation and really helped Lizzie’s when she was a few months old with eczema.
MASCARA
For YEARS now I have been using mascara by Josie Maran since it is based with argan oil (which I love!) but Beautycounter recently reformulated their mascara and I couldn’t be happier! Another easy swap with two great options.
Okay now it’s YOUR turn to help ME! I can’t find a clean swap for a highlighter that I love. Any good leads on this one? Drop your suggestions below. Thanks! xx E
