I’ve been REALLY into smoothies lately. I have been following Kelly Leveque and Megan over at the Nutrition Addiction for awhile now and I am always so envious of their smoothie making skills. They both have AMAZING smoothie recipes that are designed to optimize your health. I use to make smoothies by just throwing in a bunch of fruit and milk. Now I strategically make them into a meal in the morning so it keeps me satiated until lunch. Try out these smoothies – each made with protein, fiber and healthy fat – guaranteed to keep you full until lunch!
PB + J SMOOTHIE: Combine 1 cup almond milk, 2 tbsp natural peanut butter (I like Wild Friends), ½ cup strawberries, 2 tbsps chia seeds. 1 serving protein powder (bonus if you add a handful of greens).
BLUEBERRY LEMON SMOOTHIE: 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (use kaleismykarma for a discount on my favorite brand!), ½ juiced lemon, ½ cup frozen blueberries, 1 cup nut milk, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 1-2 tbsp chia seeds, and 1 cup greens (optional!)
PMS SMOOTHIE: Here is how ya make it: ½ avocado, 1 frozen banana (chopped)
1 tbsp cacao protein powder, 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk, 1 tsp chia seeds, 1 tsp raw honey and 1 1/2 cup baby spinach.
Why is this good on your period?
Raw honey contains antioxidants that help to alleviate stress and inflammation.
Bananas are a great source of vitamin B6 and potassium, which are known to reduce cramps and bloating. Greens are a good source of iron. Cacao has a high magnesium content which makes it a great cramp-buster and mood booster.
CHOCOLATE CHIP MINT SMOOTHIE: 1 cup @organicgirl spinach, 1 handful mint, 1 cup coconut milk, 1 banana, 1 tsp @__nativas chia seeds, 1 scoop @foursigmatic protein powder and @lilys_sweets chocolate chips. Follow the tutorial on my instagram here.
DARK CHERRY + KALE SMOOTHIE: Here we go: 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1 tbsp almond butter, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 3/4 cup frozen cherries, 1 cup kale, and 1 cup nut milk (I like to use coconut milk because it’s creamy!).
