Intermittent Fasting is an eating practice where someone eats during a 6-8 hour window in a day and fasts for at least 16 hours with no food consumption.
BURN BABY BURN. It helps burn off the fat cells! Heck yes.But more importantly it also helps detox the body.
The science behind fasting is called autophagy. Autophagy is how the body naturally cleanses and detoxifies itself, breaking down abnormal unwanted cells. It stabilizes your blood sugar, insulin levels, helps with cravings, reduces inflammation and puts your body in a fat burning state. It also affects hunger hormones, such as Ghrelin and Leptin sensitivity which can aid in weight loss.Amanda, of EatPur, also finds that she is more alert, more energized and has mental clarity when she fasts.ARE YOU CONVINCED YET?
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS CHALLENGE?
CHALLENGE YOURSELF. Intermittent Fasting has SO many benefits but so many people don’t look at it as an option because they see the word fasting and think – AH I CAN’T EAT FOR HOW MANY HOURS? This challenge is to prove to you that YOU CAN DO IT. It is actually easier than you may think it is. There are so many other women signed up for this challenge with YOU. You are fully supported! You can do it!! REMEMBER this is suppose to be FUN.
WHAT CAN I EAT DURING THE 6/8 HOUR EATING SPAN DURING THE CHALLENGE?
First and foremost, it is so important to stay hydrated throughout the challenge. So make sure your drinking half your body weigh in water and drink two glasses of water 20 minutes before eating.
While your diet can remain the same, it’s much more advantageous to consume a diet full of clean protein, healthy fats and lots of vegetables.
Amanda uses her “The Three Exchanges” methology which consists of”
- Exchange out grains (wheat, corn and rice) for ancient grains (such as quinoa, buckwheat, etc)
- Exchange refined sugars for natural sweeteners (such as honey, maple syrup, coconut sweeteners, monk fruit)
- Exchange poor quality fats for high quality fats (such as coconut oil, ghee, grass fed butter, avocado).
WHAT CAN I EAT/DRINK DURING THE FASTING PERIOD?
You can of course have water during the fasting period. Herbel tea is also acceptable or some organic black coffee with little high quality fat to ensure your caloric intake remains extremely low.
