I think we all know that the blue light from technology is just inherently bad for our eyes. But are we really going to toss away our phones or stop watching tv or stop using our computers? I don’t think!
And to really understand the impact, on average, people spend 10+ hours a day staring at digital screens. That’s over 70 hours a week, 280 hours a month, or 3360 hours in a year. However you want to look at it – I hope you are cringing – because the harm is real.
Per Pixel Eyewear, “Blue light is part of the visible light spectrum that packs the highest energy with the shortest wavelengths, emitted in large amounts by digital screens such as computers and smartphones. Similar to how UV light can damage our eyes and skin, overexposure to blue light can cause eye problems ranging from eyestrain, eye fatigue, blurred vision, dry eyes, and headaches. Blue light also regulates our circadian rhythm by influencing the production of melatonin in our body. Exposure to blue light at night time such as browsing on your phone or computer disrupts our sleep cycle, making it hard for us to fall asleep.”
Furthermore, an estimated 70% of American’s experience an eye strain due to prolonged use of electronic devices.
So what is the solution? Well, my husband and I take the bulletproof eye armor vitamins which are meant to defend against high energy blue light (and it contains antioxidants + vitamins for your eye health!) as a precaution.
However, if you are actively looking to protect your eyes – I recommend some computer glassess. SAY WHAT? Yep, Pixel Eyewear is a company that has created eye glasses that filter out 50% of harsh blue light and up to 95% at the highest levels without distorting your color perception. Their eye glass lenses also eliminate glare and alleviate strain in your eyes, as well as incorporating a nanotechnology coating that keep your lenses clean and scratches free.
So no more eye fatigue, dry eyes, blurred vision or headaches from starring at the computer all day. (Which by the way – did you know there is an actual diagnosis called Computer Vision Syndrome!). Anyone who spends considerable time on a computer or digital device will benefit from wearing their computer glasses.
It really doesn’t just apply to computers. The glasses filter out the harsh blue light emitted by digital devices such as computers, smartphones, televisions, tablets, fluorescent lights, and LEDs.
I chose the MERU in blue and let me tell you, they are SO trendy and chic. Since I wear contacts/glasses already, no one at work even noticed they were a different type of glasses.

My eyes have been getting so fatigued by the end of the day to the point where I can’t even keep them open. I think it’s time for me to give these a try!
