This weeks #bossbabe is Chante Gernertt of Roses and Rose’ and let me tell you, SHE HAS A HEART OF GOLD! Her side hustle is thriving AND she’s giving back to a good cause through her company. I love supporting women who give back and make a difference in the world. Grab a booch and read this weeks #bossbabe below!
Roses and Rosé
Chante is a true California babe, as she grew up in Huntington Beach and Newport and spent her childhood going to the beach, surfing with her brothers, and of course lots of Disneyland trips. She never really seemed interested in college but she knew she wanted to make a difference in the world. Insert her side hustle.
Roses N Rosé started as a lifestyle blog, and later expanded into a beauty product line that supports various charities via Charity by Moxie. Chante explains it all started rather organically.
“I connected with a company called Moxie Box USA, the owner is a total sweetheart… I was telling her how I have been making my own [products] for so long and I would love to start something on my own! She already had her [company] up and running and mentioned to me that she wanted to get involved in charities….. which is where our charity line comes in! I decided to turn my blog into a brand and create my own awareness. We put our brands together just for the charity line and now we have Charity by Moxie! For every product in this line, a percentage is donated towards a charity we are both passionate about!”
Charity by Moxie
Charity by Moxie gives a portion of their proceeds back to charities. Specifically, the Rosie Cheeks Scrub proceeds support Breast Cancer and the Sunshine Scrub proceeds supports Brain Cancer.
“My boyfriends mom is a breast cancer survivor. We are really close so I wanted to do something for her….And Unfortunately, I recently lost a friend to a brain tumor. Her favorite color was yellow so I wanted to do something for her and the best thing I could do was think of a name that resembled her. She was Sunshine and I thought the best that could go with that would be something a little beachy so that’s how our pineapple coconut vibes came along!”
Life of an Entrepreneur
And just like that, Chante hit the ground running and hasn’t looked back. Her company has grown exponentially in the past four months. And it hasn’t been as easy as she anticipated. One of the greatest challenges so far has been learning the rules and laws relating to the trade. Another challenge has been management.
“Oh gosh, yeah this has definitely taken off a lot more than expected…. I am not sure people realize it’s just me behind the brand. It’s hard to keep up and I try my best to respond to everyone and keep everything updated and flowing! I’ve actually taught myself a system now and have given myself a schedule. I have 3 different times through out the day that I post on social media. During the day I give myself a hour or so to respond to emails and comments and then when I get home from my actual job I fulfill orders, and take the time to write each customer a personalized thank you note for them to receive with their package. As far as making sure everything is always stocked, I created myself an inventory sheet I check weekly to make sure I am always on top of it!”
Chante has some really sound advice for those women looking to become #bossbabes. Taking the first step into your business is always the hardest, but so worth it.
“Just go for it and to take risks! I feel like often times people tend to over think things and scare themselves out of doing what they really want. I think everyone should have more of a “watch me prove you wrong!” type of mentality and just go for it! Why not??”
She is also offering BYOK readers a code which just so happens to be BYOK15 for a discount off her products for the next two weeks!
